Bishop’s Visit Highlights Localization.

Bishop's (+BP Peter Houhou) visitation to St. Dominic Parish, Sirovanga, during the parish feast day (9th Aug) has highlighted some of the magnificent occasions that truly inspired many parishioners from various communities in and around Sirovanga Parish.

More elders (olo's) said that the bishop's visit to inland communities has shown the spirit of the Dominican missionaries who served their communities while the Christian seed was planted in that area 100 years ago.

The bishop visited the aged, newly completed clinic project and schools, blessed the people, and had the opportunity to consecrate a church building.

A church elder commented that since we have a first local bishop, many of us wonder how we will get on. He stated that the bishop's first visit to our parish and his message are about working together during the adoption of localization. Now, he said he realized that localization is not just about moving funds or handling money; it is fundamentally about shifting power and decision-making so that we keep the church alive. And so what happens is that he (the bishop) is really with us.
