Bishop Luciano's Birthday and Anniversary as a Bishop

The Diocese of  Gizo witnessed the 1st Episcopal Anniversary and 61st birthday of the Bishop of Gizo, Most Rev– Luciano Capelli sbd.

Included in the celebrations were those from the parishes, Parish priests, Diocesan Pastoral Teams of Animators (DPTA), staff from the Movement of the Better World (PNG) and communities around Gizo who joined in with the thanksgiving Mass on the 18th October 2008.

During the hour of thanksgiving, Bishop Luciano Capelli encouraged everyone to participate and be involved in building up the church of God. “…... the church is everyone, our parish and our Diocese which is entrusted to everyone….. We are all part of the church and have a mission and role to implement the pastoral services to all…...The church is like a chain which has links which are strong and important to our church. The weakest link is where the strength of the church is…” He strongly encouraged everyone to implement and build the church on those links.

However the church has experienced difficulties through its journey but encountered missions of hope.

Pre seminarians’ have been sent to NAC and the youths’ establishment in our Diocese brings hope to the Diocese. Bishop Capelli thanked God for his Journey as a priest to people from different back grounds. He is here with a mission which is not an accident but a dream before conception. The celebrations continued with speeches, entertainment, cake and dancing which highlighted his 1st Episcopal Anniversary and his 61st birthday.
