World Youth Day 2011 Celebration, Diocese of Gizo.

 

More than 100 youth from the Southern Deanery, Wagina, Noro and Gizo parish attended the three-day world youth day celebration in the Diocese of Gizo from the 12th to 14th of August.

Purposely, to remind youth that they were consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The youth have been reminded that Jesus is always calling them.


The celebrations commenced with the escorting of the Diocesan World Youth Day (DWYD) cross from Noro to Gizo were hundreds have been privileged to watch the arrival of the DWYD Cross.


There followed the procession march with the Diocesan WYD cross from the wharf to the St. Peter’s Cathedral Gizo; more came to witness the unusual event which took place.


Activities, included Catechesis from the priests, the religious, couples and the provincial youth office (West).


The International theme for the World Youth Day 2011 was “Rooted and build-up in Jesus Christ, firm in the faith” Col. 2:7, were all youths from the whole over the world gathered to celebrate at Madrid Spain, and the diocese of Gizo celebrated the event in three separated parishes, Nila Shortland and Moli, Choiseul, for northern deanery and Gizo for southern deanery.
